Here at Summerland Style, it’s show time — literally and figuratively. This Saturday the 16th you can find me at the Island Chicks Event in Anacortes, WA. It’s a new show for me and I’m excited from what I know about it so far. It’ll be the perfect event to get you and your girlfriends out the door and into an inspiring environment. If you’ve never been to an event like this, it’s a good gateway show as it’s all indoors! Perfect for our fickle PNW spring weather. Come on out Saturday from 9 – 4 at the Port of Anacortes.
I’ll be bringing some fantastic furniture pieces, repurposed lighting, pillows and, of course, my cache of letterforms.
For those of you who remember my vintage trailer project, I’m happy to report it’s finally show time for that too. I recently connected with a friend of a friend who has restored several vintage trailers and I persuaded him to come out and look at mine. We came up with a punch list of what needs to be done and the order they need to be addressed. It really got me excited to start moving forward on it and so I proudly announced to my husband that I would be tackling every project myself!
Right now he’s in the middle of a treehouse building project, a small kitchen renovation, landscaping issues that need to be resolved, and has a garage that is crying out for some degree of organization. So my little trailer keeps sitting and patiently waiting for some attention. I’m not sure what it was that lit his fire, but lo and behold, Scott and the boys worked on the trailer a bit while I was gone Saturday afternoon.
The boys seem to be at the age where their attention span is adequate and they are really contributing to the restoration of this trailer. I’m confident we’ll have years of GREAT family memories in this little baby. Mark my words — I guarantee at least one of my kids will take on their own trailer restoration down the road in an attempt to recapture the feeling of this time! I mean I feel like a kid with this thing!
Step one was repairing holes in the floor. Not so glamourous but it’s one thing checked off the list!
Next on my list is to re-caulk the exterior seams to prevent any more water from leaking in. Look out — I’m getting the caulking gun. Here’s the Oasis as she looks now. My goal is to get her ready for her debut by summer. I think I’m a bit more confident than my husband, but at least we’re on our way!
